Chama River Watershed: This poor river! Water czars move to the beat of municipal water demand, so dam gates at El Vado and Abiquiu are being opened and shut every few days. Flows double or triple in a matter of a couple hours (no gradual ramping), so expect murky conditions and disturbed fish after sudden changes. Game and Fish is still stocking below El Vado Dam, but try the upstream areas for clearer water between storms.
