actualy I do use wire,
I make home made spinner simmilar to mepps spinners tho not quite as good but will work in a pinch if I loose my mepps to giant pike logs.
the gage I cant remember but any one with a spinner can measure their own spiner wires with a pair of calipers
similar to tying a fly I tie a few fether strands to a treble hook then wire than some beeds ant then blade and clevis then another beed then tie off at the top.
its not hard realy. tho I wouldnt want to make a coreer of it.
I like stainless steel wire when I can find it.
I also use a braded coated stainless steel wire made by a company here in michigan for tying coustom steel leaders. one spool of a hundred yards cost about 20 fish backs.
I still use store baught wire leaders for pike. except when ice fishing when I use my thumb...[pirate][sly][laugh]
