Need Lake Mead Info?
#2
With heat being on right now strippers are very difficult to get from shore. They are cruising in schools from what I hear. mid nov. - mid March. is the better time for the strippers with the cooler temps and rainbows being stocked in the coves.

This time of years I would be fishing the morning sunrise bite untill about nine am. then the evening bite from around six pm untill well after sunset.

Watch the surface for activity the topwater bite is good right now zara spooks and zara puppys clear pearly white are my topwater lures of choice.

Looking for largemouth with jigs and dropshot in the 25-40 ft deep range. Will give you the better chances in the august heat. try to stay with shad patterns for th dropshot though purple 4" roboworms can produce in this lake. For jigs I like Yamamotos split tail smoke grey and white riged on a 1/2 ounce darter head.

IF night fishing with a full moon Black Spinner baits with a black colorado blade does well for the smallmouth and largemouths alike.

for rules and regs visit the arizona game and fish @ http://www.gf.state.az.us/h_f/fishing_rules.shtml

Capt. Bob may be able to point you the right way for a tackle shop.
He may be able to give you more tips as well. his site is @

I personally will not be out a Mead until December when stocking is going on and the big strippers are out. Hope all this helps.
