You are right the bugs are bad. When we go, we go for at least 3 days. We have a screen tent to eat in, so the bugs don't get us then. If they don;t bite I can pretty much ignore them.We were camping up there last year in August and they weren't real bad. But when I am catching fish, I can handle just about anything.
