Hey there HokieJeff,
Welcome to BFT!
TubeN2 hit the nail on the head (as usual) in that I would not buy a single fishing related thing for the boat until I sat down and make a list. I read an article on choosing a boat.
Make two columns. One column will have how you like to fish, with what, for what species, etc. and the other column has what you don't like and more important, what you can't have, do, etc.
Put the list away for a week then look at it again. If it's still valid use it as a guideline when talking to fellow anglers/boat owners.
Good luck and welcome to BFT.
MY BOAT is a 90 ft 25 ft beam twin engine machine of which I pay about $100 a week (deep in season) to maintain. Of course, there is a crew of three and live bait at my disposal too!
