Welcome to the forum!

Will you be fishing from shore or from a boat?

Fishing from the bank is still a little harder than from a boat because we haven't had a really long warm spell yet, but this week's weather might change that. If you're on shore, then look for the structure. Flooded oak brush is a good bet. If it's pretty thick, then you're better off using a bobber with a chunk of worm below it. If you've got a clear shot in front of you, then I'd put a 1/8 oz egg sinker above about 18" of leader with some worm.

If you're in a boat, then park yourself far enough from some of the shore structure that you're sitting over about 15 feet of water. Then just drop down basically any small jig tipped with either some worm or some perch meat. We found our best luck by picking it up 12-18" from the bottom and just "dead sticking" it (we just let the motion of the waves on the boat do the jigging). Doing this you'll definitely catch perch, but don't be surprised when your stick bends hard after a trout or smallie takes off with it. If you have ultra-lite gear, then I'd suggest using that. It makes it all the more fun.

By the time we get to the end of June, you can't get a small jig to the bottom of any submerged structure that's in at least 3 feet of water. The perchskies just swarm it. There are SO MANY perch in Jordanelle. Don't be afraid to take some limits out. The big ones make for good eating and the small ones work great for fertilizer and cut bait.
