Lake Champlain walleye
#2
Hey, predators have to eat too right? Seems to me that in trying to solve the problem they may have made it worse. By feeding the predators, they'd increase THEIR numbers thereby increasing the demand for more forage (fry and fingerlings). Theoretically, this would lead to a drastic decline in the number of walleye; which would in turn lead to a drastic decline in predator fish (if they couldn't get enough to eat). This decline in predators would lead to an increase in walleye (assuming they weren't extinct), leading to an increase of predators again. No wonder they call it "The circle of life." I'm not familiar with that water, and am far from a biologist, but it seems that these things must go in cycles. My suggestion to the walleye anglers in the area...Let them Eat Bass. Another possible solution may be to open the season on bass and pike in the area to all year or raise the daily limits, even if only for a few years.

Still, it's nice to see that some people can and will take matters into their own hands with a common sense (at the time) solution; and that the DEC was willing to help and not get in the way.

That being said, I think we should all grab our spinners, buzzbaits, and "Jig and Pigs" and head for the Lake.
