I didnt have a problem doing it last tuesday, 5-18-04, when the DWR truck pulled up and dumped 2000 gills into the pond for my kids fishing class to catch the heck outta. course, I didnt fish in the tire tracks either...those fish they dumped dispersed rather quickly to both ends of the pond I was at. I just popped on a fly and had fun..isnt that what its all about anyway?? Here in Utah when they stock the fish, the DWR guys hang around for about 10 minutes and make sure all the fish got out into the deeper stuff anyway..he waded into knee deep and made sure he scared all of em out....I dont know if they do this else where since this is the first time I have watched the stocking take place at any lake/river/pond/resivoir I have ever fished. It was cool to see though.
I remember haveing the thought of poop for brains for the guys that did drop lines right in the spot the truck left though...thinking man how bad do you fish that you have to camp out right in the tire tracks...I didnt think that about the father that had his two young sons there haveing fun...just the guy with a stringer..what a dope. I do think there is no skill in fishing the spot they just planted....its just a matter of dropping in and catching fish...I was catching those little gills on almost a bare hook, they beat up the fly so bad it had to be tossed when I went home. lol..it was fun.
