Pineview, crappie, perch and a bonus fish
#1
Ira and I got up to PV again yesterday, hoping that the day before the storm might make for better catching and we were right, it was our best trip out of our last three there. Years ago we found the crappie off the West end of Cemetery point, so we started there, lots of good marks but they just were not interested, so we continued to troll East. We finally started to catch fish, when we got into 36 fow and continued to catch them, all the way to 20 fow, where we turned around after seeing the best marks in 25 to 35 fow. The action was so fast that we never got a break until we left at 1pm, I'm sure we caught over 50 perch and crappie but we never counted them. I did bring home 9 crappie that were 11 to 12", the biggest perch were 9". The bonus fish was a 42" tiger musky, that Ira caught on a tiny crappie crank. Water temps were down to 60 degrees yesterday. It was a little breezy and cloudy when we first got there but cleared up and calmed down later in the morning. We tried deeper early but once we got into the big schools, 20 ft was the magic depth. It was one of those days where time flew by and it was time to leave before we knew it but to be honest we had just about all the fun we could stand by then. Getting up and sitting down gets to me after that much time, it would have been easier just to stay standing the whole time. It sure was fun to get away on such a nice Fall day. Not one skier or any other boats on the water, while we were there.
