Morning trip to Echo..Fri, 5-30

Thanks for that report Joe, sounds like a nice morning, with some good sized trout being caught. I think for trout fishing, it's a great idea, tipping lures with bait, although I rarely use worms but in the past when I did, it seems I did better. Did you by chance mark any groups of perch, near the bottom, while you were trolling?

Now thinking about it, I don't recall seeing any big groups marked on or near bottom..maybe we were too deep most of the time? Walleyes or bass eating the little ones? I know we'd see a lot of big group marks at Rockport, so IMO there is a difference between these 2 water bodies..I used to tie most of my own flies when I was fly fishing...now 'Garden Hackle' works really good..

The place we mark the most perch, is on the side by the freeway, toward the back, below the cliff there.

Hey Curtis--maybe I'll have to look for that area next Winter for ice fishing season...but I guess I don't know where you mean by 'toward the back'...I know the freeway side, but are you talking about toward the dam, or way opposite that toward the inlet shallower water?

It's a long ways to walk in the Winter, so we don't fish there except for during boating season but yes, back toward the inlet. The cliff I'm talking about is right below that trucker rest area.
