I fished at Lincoln Thursday and did well on the cats. Arrived about 7:00 and left about 10:00, caught 8 channels all of them husky and feisty with football sized bellies. All were 27-29 inches long, probably 8-10 pounds.

I stopped at the launch long enough to "hatchery fish" for white bass as they popped midges from the surface, caught one almost every cast, all small 5-7 inches. Perfect day for fishin' with calm water and active cats. Fun to watch the grebes with their young tucked under one wing so that it appeared to be a two headed bird. The ospreys were perched on the poles at the end of the channel as they ran surveillance on careless wb, their catch rate has got to be close to 100%. The carp were everywhere doing their group surface slurps. Need to take bow with me next time out.
Water temp was 61 early and warmed to 63 by 10:00. The cats were caught on fresh white bass strolled at .5 and when they hit it almost ripped the pole out of the holder. They were good fighters and the drag on my reels felt like they were smoking... fun! The males had the usual scraps and scratches from active love life, all were released so not sure what they have been feeding on. All of the cats were good sized, nothing under 27 inches. Big cats and small white bass... hmmmm?? a correlation??
Enyhow, good fishin" ahead. Great time to be out.
