Canoe with motor

I have had a canoe and kayaks for quite some time.  I finally picked up a motor for my canoe.  I have added a Minnkota 55lb motor to it or will be this week when I get my battery and the rest of my stuff.  This brings me to my next thing, I don't need to register it, correct?  From my research and talking with a soso worker at the motor of vehicle registration place, it looks like I don't have to register a canoe or a canoe with a motor that is less than 25hp.  I would include a link to the DMV site but don't think I can. 

Any information would be most helpful,
