Great report and awesome pics. Echo has treated us all well this Fall and the average size of those bows are hard to beat. Can't say I've ever heard of using chub meat on a faster trolled lure, I would think a chunk of chub would throw off the lures action but I guess it depends on the lure. Since apex lures have the hooks behind the lure and squids get all their action from the dodger, I'm guessing that is why they worked so well for you. Had you ever used chub like that before or was that your first time using it? Great idea!
