Try casting from down stream from where the fish is remember if you can see the fish chances are the fish can see you cast up ahead of the fish and work the lure or bait back to you and across try different retrieves stopping and twitching to get the fishes attention when he moves stop the bait and let the current take it eventually he will strike it even if only to try chasing it away also try at different times of day early morning or just around dusk they are most active feeding midday they don't feed much most of you bites then are reaction strikes or just simply chasing your bait away hope this helps also if its spawning time in your area the fish may just be protecting the nest and won't bite
