I caught a couple last year that were 2 feet long, that size is common, the one you are looking for is about 30-38 inches. (3 feet)
it is a riot to catch any of them, I would have been tickled to land one this past winter. but mud puppies just would not leave me alone[pirate] I pulled in 31 this winter. you talk about getting slimed! I wont be needing any hair jell for years to come[
