Ice Addiction Tournament
#27
I’m not sure it’s all luck. I took Friday off work and prefished it. It was hard to figure out a pattern, but when we did- we did really well. There was 4 of us and we caught around 20 fish that were inside the tournament grid. Out of the fish we caught Friday, 8 would have won the tournament and 3 were over 22” pushing 5 pounds. The bite was very specific and extremely light. They only hit once and they were gone...barely noticeable. Here’s how I see it. Out of 900 people, half were there just because. 90% of the remaining had no idea where the fish were coming through or what they were eating (not easy to figure this out during the 4 hour competition). That leaves around 20-40 that are really competing. If you know where they are and what they are hitting, then I guess it’s luck if one comes by and bites. Well, 2 of the 4 of our group got a fish. I’m thinking it was lucky for the dude that won it that one of those big fish didn’t come swimming by my hole. I saw one fish and got it. I would agree I’ve been “lucky” to get a fish that placed in all 4 of these tournaments I’ve fished in- but I’d also like to think some of it is due to the work we put in. As far as the other points that have been made about the tournament, the waiting and anticipation just adds to the entire experience. The sunrise at the national anthem at Boyd was breathtaking.
