Archer - I had never known of BFT until a few years ago, a co-worker was showing me the fishing reports and that is what got me interested. Then I met WH2 and RockyRaab up at Willard Bay. That convinced me to join the Utah BFT Forum.

I have already dismissed all the west coast states as possible retirement areas. And that isn't out of any choice based on their fishing qualities. I was born and raised in California from L.A. to Oakland. I spent 19 months in Marysville / Yuba City area as my 2nd assignment in USAF at Beale AFB. The fishing in that part of the state from Folsom Lake to the Sacramento and American rivers was quite good. The Yuba County Gold Fields were great LMB waters. BUT[b] California holds absolutely no attraction for me now. And for pretty much the same reasons, Oregon and Washington wouldn't be considered.

During my active USAF career 1973 - 1993, I have lived in 6 states, spent extended time in 3 or 4 others, lived in the U.K. for 6 years, and spent time in numerous other countries from Egypt to Panama. Panama being the best one in my opinion for both fresh and salt water fishing.
It was my past skills in the USAF that brought me here in 1999. Now, that is the job that I will be retiring from next year.
It is quite likely I will stay in Utah if for no other reason than I'm settled and comfortable here, right now anyway.

Quote:Utah is NOT the only great fishing in the US. It is pretty darned good, statement. Each state has it's own and varied fishing opportunities. That doesn't necessarily make any of them better than another, just different.
