Worst day ever at Strawberry
#4
I too went up yesterday to take my dog for a ride and try out a few new dodgers and squids I made following Roberts winter videos. I fished with planner boards, etc and fished from 5’ deep down to 45’ with my downriggers. Never had a bite. I saw Robert out nearby and wondered why I never saw him circle around or do any figure 8’s. I guess it makes sense now. No caught fish caught to circle over.

Just one of those days. Surface temps were around 47 and most of the water column around 40. Nice day on the water with not many boats. That will soon change tho!

Many post saw they see kokes here and there on their screens. My question is how certain is it you are seeing kokes. Ok when there is a thermocline and 52 degrees is at 25’ and one sees a lot of fish at 25’ its a good guess. I hear people talk a lot (and I have read) about a kokes air bladder being different, but I dont know? I have caught kokes when there was nothing on my screen, tons of fish on my screen and a few fish.

I have a Humminbird 959. I turn the gain up very high. At times there were fish all over. 5’, 25’, bottom. I guess at what I think are kokes, but isnt that what everyone is doing? Maybe its easier to guess when they are on the bottom vs. 25’, or when there is a single arch compared to a group?

But how do you know there isnt a school of cuts, chubs, rainbows, or the one you think is a single cut is really a koke? Arches do appear differently on ones screen depending on where the fish is in the cone??

Or does it make us feel better to say to ourselves that we see kokes in the screen?

I dont know?
