Was out there today, but in the boat. Was a really nice day. Boated 2 contest worthy Cats and one big Carp to replenish my bait, just in time too.
Got a bit of a late start, had lines in the water at first bend upriver from the ramp, 5 minutes later had first Cat boated. He swallowed my 4 /0 circle hook so far down, couldn't see it. Cut the line, did the CPR thing and tied on a new hook.
About 20 min. after that with new and freshly baited hook, had reel drag screaming. Set hook, (I thought) head shake and bottom roll for about 20 yards up to the boat, then my line came sling shotting back at me. Still had the hook, but bait all gone.
Worked a couple more holes along the north bank towards the hunt club. Was rewarded with several nibbles, bites and bait thefts until another Cat got greedy.
Cat # 2 boated.
Was about out of bait, put a worm on a 6/0 Octopus hook, cast out next to a big log along the bank. BIG Carp sucked it in.
Carp now resides in several zip lock bags to use as bait next few trips.
27 inch long, 10 lb. 13 oz. Carp. Fat and no eggs.
Great day today. May be back out there tomorrow, but just bank tangling this time. I have the white GMC with the USAF Retired decal on back window.
