Rockport Report/Echo Update
#1
[size 4][font "Comic Sans MS"][#800000]Fished Rockport last Thursday, Friday, and again today. The planter rainbows are alive and well. Fished from my boat with one other person on all three days. Air temps at 8:30 start times were nippy - low 30's - each day but warmed up to the mid 50's to low 60's. Surface water temps were mid 40s. Checked temps down to 95 feet today and the big change/drop in temp was between 35 and 40 feet. Winds were light and variable each day.

We caught about 25 give or take (didn't really count) on Thursday, 24 on Friday, and 35 today. We kept our 4 fish limit each day. I smoked mine in my new Camp Chef Woodwind SG pellet grill and they turned out excellent.

We fished squids, kokabows, Apex, and wedding rings behind a variety of different colored dodgers. Best colors were pink and orange. All were tipped with Berkley maggots or Pautzke Shoepeg corn. Best depth was 10 to 20 feet down and 50 to 120 feet back using downriggers.

There is a wedge dock in place on the ramp, but no courtesy docks are in yet other than what I believe is the boat rental dock a couple hundreds yards south of the ramp.

Echo update for launching a boat. This is from my face-to-face meeting with the Park Manager today. There is NO wedge dock on the ramp nor will there be this year. The courtesy docks will be put in the water in early May. No specific date was given.

You all know what planter rainbows look like, so I won't post any pictures. [Smile]
