How Long is Line's good for?

I guess that’s why I like the uni-uni knot is that I can remember how to tie it and it’s not too hard to tie and seems strong, but it can catch an eye or at least give a bump when it’s pulled in under tension. I’ve never lost a fish because of it but it has made me nervous a couple times. So I prefer short leaders so they don’t have to be reeled into the pole. Thanks for the tip I’ll check out the FG knot, but if it’s hard I’m too slow to figure it out. Thanks J
