Lincoln Beach exciting news
#6
A couple of thoughts and observations on the proposed “adoption” of LB Access point:

Your ideas are very noble and admirable. Anytime garbage is gathered from around the Old Pond it is a good thing. As TD has said, most of us have at one time or another participated in a group cleanup and any BFTer worth his cut bait would never pass up a piece of garbage. We do random acts of clean up all the time.

The LB launch, pavilion, and restroom areas are maintained very admirably by the campground hosts assigned each year. The area north and west of the parking lot around to the Lincoln Point Access area has been acquired by Ut. County with the intent to develop it into something similar to Lincoln Beach – camping, tables, grass, stuff like that. They have started to install the infrastructure and it is likely that they will begin in earnest with heavy equipment as weather permits. There is not much by way of garbage between LB and the LB Access point, mostly because it is not accessible by vehicle. The area at the first spring where all the white bass fishing takes place during the winter months can be very littered with assorted trash. Sadly, L-D-R’s description was not far off but may have been a bit exaggerated. I have fished Lincoln for the past 50 years and I have never seen abandoned washers, dryers, or assorted car parts – Corona beer bottles and worm containers – yup, in disgusting abundance. This is especially disappointing because there is a large dumpster located a couple hundred yards away in the LB parking lot.

I would support any clean up project in the LB area. If the county begins pushing dirt, rocks, sagebrush, frags, and tamarisk around in that area it might not be a place for BFTers to be tripping around.

With regard to the get togethers: Great idea! We have had some great “Flotillas” at Lincoln in the past. (See TD’s pics in another post). In times past we have secured the pavilion as needed, fished for half day and retired to some mighty good grub served up by a guy who knows how to cook ‘em. I’m all in on something like that.

Keep us posted as your projects progresses.
