My wife used to get upset because I fished so much and I did. I fished 3-4 times a week. A couple times after work then on Sat ans Sunday. Usually early or late.
So after a conversation and agreement we got divorced!
( just kidding[
] )
I agreed to fish once a week unless there is a long weekend ( holiday ) then 2-3 times. She agreed to those terms.[sly]
------------------------------------------------------------- I have a friend who loves fishing so much he ended up leaving his wife[
]
He tried to get her to fish with him and she wouldn't. He explained he was the happiest when he was fishing and it was a major part of his life.
She couldn't handle it so he cut his fishing way back and went into a depression. He ended up going to marriage counseling at a location in Northern California ( near a river ).
The first night they met in the docs office and he had mounted fish and rods all over his walls. He listened to the doctor talk about compromise and give and take then told the doctor his wife didn't want him to fish at all and even to fish once or twice a month he had to fight with her for hours.
They ended the session and the next morning my friend went down to the nearest fish and tackle store and hit the river. Who do you think he ran into? The therapist! Fishing.[crazy]
My friend talked to him off the record and he told him your compromise shouldn't make you miserable. The next evening they meet in his office.
My friend told his wife he went fishing that morning without telling her, also that he ran into the therapist and talked for 2 1/2 hours.
He then told his wife he wanted a divorce. She ran out of office crying and proceeded to take the car and leave him there.
So he and the therapist proceed to fish the weekend together. he then took a bus home.
We he got home he found all the poles broken and alot of his reels broken and tackle thrown all over the yard. His wife went to stay with her mother.
He called me and I came over and witnessed the destruction. After some sobbing and a couple beers I said, " Time to go shopping? "
He agreed. You wouldn't believe this, but this all happened on a Friday and there was a fishing show that started that same weekend. I think it was Fred Hall Show.
So anyway we ended up going Friday and Saturday. He loaded up on rods and reels. Probably dropped close to $1,200!
He gets home Saturday and the wife is there taking her stuff out. She is like, your not going to stop me? He is like, take it all! I don't care.
As the movers finish loading the truck up and she is leaving she says," Oh how's the fishing lately? " I noticed you poles were broken.
Without even blinking an eye my friend replied, " I came home and found all my old poles and reels broken. So since I was planning on replacing them soon anyway I took our vacation egg and went to Fishing Show and bought brand new gear "
This is a true story. They are still fighting in court over the vacation egg.
My friend moved down to San Diego area and is the happiest I have seen him in years. He fishes almost everyday and he has some of the best fishing in California within miles of his condo and loves being single and not answering to anyone.
After my wife heard all this she will not allow me to hang out with him anymore. She is worried we might want a group dream and end up touring the country fishing[
