Contour Maps

Here is the problem with contour maps and reservoirs. If you look at Echo the online map says elevation of 5500ft. I was standing on echo with my gps and it measured 5550 at it's current low level. So unless you can map the reservoir it's hard to know what the water debth is gonna be based on a contour map.
