Contour Maps
#8
Last time I checked Navionics, they did not have many maps for Utha/Idaho other than Flaming Gorge, Lake Powell, and Bear Lake. Nothing for Deer Creek, Jordanelle, Echo, Pineview, Willard, etc, etc. I would recommend Fish-N-Maps. They have the most complete inventory of Uttah/Idaho maps that I am aware of.

40 odd years ago, I was looking for maps of all the reservoirs in Utah, none existed. At that time there was a Gelogical Survey office in Provo, where the 4th District Court house now stands. I talked to one of the guys there and he let me make copies of all the topo maps that they had, original topo maps from the original surveys of the land BEFORE the reservoirs were formed. I ended up with maps of Deer Creek, Pineview, Yuba, Starvation, Rockport, and Echo, along with a survey of Utah lake showing depth and spring locations. Shortly after I obtained these, the office was closed and who knows where the maps ended up.

Several years later, attending the Boat Show in SLC, I struck up a conversation with Curtis Sportbert, owner of the Fish-n-Map Company. He had a booth at the show and was selling his maps. Most of them were of Colorado and Wyoming. Curtis was a topographer for the oil industry and had access to all kinds of maps. He put his skill as a topographer to work to make maps of lakes where he liked to fish. I told him about my collection and he came to the house to check them out. Several of the maps consisted of multiple sheets that I had taped together so as to have a continuous sheet.

After looking at them, he asked if he could have them to make maps from. I was more than happy to give them to him as the were difficult to use in the format I had. About 6 months later, I received a package from Curtis that contained 2 coppies of each of his maps for Deer Creek, Pineview, Utah Lake, Yuba, Rockport, Echo, and Starvation. He has added several others to his collection since then, but those were the maps that he used my maps for.

So go with the Fish-n-Maps because I know for a fact that they come from the original survey maps of the lake bottom before flooding !!!
