You mentioned MarCum Showdown for your price range. I strongly considered it for myself for some advantages over my MarCum LX-9. It compares well in specifications for power and target separation. I like that it's display is said to be more visible in bright sunlight, but I've never used one. I especially like that it is smaller and lighter because I generally don't stay put unless over fish that are holding to structure. I run around to auger a lot of holes. The showdown transducer is more narrow and I've considered making something to make tiny holes even faster.
