Brown's Pond is part of the Newburgh, NY reservoir system and even though in the suburbs, controlled by the city. No one knows why it was closed it to the public though bad management in that town is thought the usual suspect.
Now the system (three lakes connected by the same stream) has been found to be polluted upstream which began 40 years ago when the U.S. Air Force buried toxic waste in hundreds of barrels that broke down in the ground. The water is unsafe to drink and I gather maybe so are the fish to eat.
Too bad - amazing fish quality!!! Never had a bad day!
