Sorry, that big one looks bigger in the photo, because the others are smaller. The fish are still coming. Today they were a bit shallower, though it was harder to figure because I was solo and could only fish 2 poles. When my wife or someone else goes, I can stack and prospect more depths. Today, 45' was almost too deep. 35' was probably better, but it took a while to figure out - i didn't believe the electronics - thought they were probably cutts. Soon as I brought things up, I did better.
They are still biting - last year I got my last limit on Labor Day, but they were all so red, I released them.
I will be up again Wednesday this week and again on Saturday - wife and nephews want one last crack at them. After that I will decide if it is time to hang it up until next year. It has been a great one - I will be dreaming of summer Kokes all through the ice season.
If you are a John Wayne fan, you remember the line from the Cowboys, after Mr Will Anderson (John Wayne) is all shot up, he looks at the boys and says "Summer's over".
The next scene the boys are standing around his grave. Kind of feels like that. See if I can last it out one more week.
