I hate to sound like a cowardly wuss, but a video is probably your best weapon against these jerks. Any real weapon "brandished" is going to get you into very hot water. Boiling hot if you were to use it.
Unless, of course, the jerk takes action against you, like attempting to run you down or capsize you.
