catchinon: I have 2 rods dedicated for cat fishin. Both are 7' medium heavy. One is an Ugly Stick (all one piece) one is an old Berkley 2 piece. Both have fairly large capacity Quantum reels loaded about 80% of capacity with 30 lb braided Spider Wire. Use a hook leader about 4' long with 12 lb mono like skunkedagain, when fishing in water with lots of snag potential (UL Bird Island), but other places with less likely snags, I use a length of braided line for the hook leader also.
