I think a switch rod is probably over kill for most of our waters. Your 5 weight will serve you well for most of your indicator nymphing, dry fly and streamer fishing. If you are considering a new rod however, Euro nymphing is really effective. A longer lighter rod is important for this technique. a 3 or 4 weight rod in the 10 foot to 11 foot range is perfect. I use a 11 foot 3 weight Syndicate rod and I love it.
