Does the moon really effect the fishing????

I agree very much with TubeDude.

One thing that I don't remember reading in his dissertation is that with the full moon, the level in the water in which the plankton are staying will affect where the fish are feeding. If you can figure out that particular level, chances are you'll have a better chance at catching on a full moon.

I've heard that gravitational pull and barometric pressure also have an affect on the level in which the plankton are active.

Just something I picked up from reading In-Fisherman magazine on a special they had regarding barometric pressure but they also said these are theories and not one thing is 100% true but that all aspects play a roll together and even then, only one rule stands true 100% of the time. There is always an exception.
