Does the moon really effect the fishing????

I believe that it does effect the fish. Especially carp. I mean when i got carp fishing on a new moon i may not catch as many in one night that i would a full moon. I do not believe that it effects panfish but i really dont know because it dosnt matter when i go i always catch them. I couldnt tell you that it effects bass because i am not that much of a bass fisherman. I believe that it all depends on the weather and what time of year it is and conditions of the water(weather the clarity is clean or dirty and is there any chemicals in the water you know stuff like that)
