[#0000FF]Glad you weren't offended by my remarks. Over the years I have accumulated a few of the various "must have" fishing items...mostly at yard sales. And of course I just have to watch all of the new infomercials just for the chuckles.
It is easy to see that many of these things were developed by fishing rookies or non-fishermen. They are downright offensive to any angler with more than a smattering of basic knowledge of fish and fishing.
There are some gadgets, knickknacks, tools and lures that WILL work. But the question is always will they work better than what you use already?
A good example is that de-boner. I am pretty handy with my arsenal of electric and standard fillet knives. By the time I had a fish headed and gutted to apply the bone remover I could have skinless and boneless fillets...with a lot less flesh damage than with the deboner.
Whenever I see commercials for AMAZING new lures, I ask myself a couple of questions.
1. If this product is so amazing why do they have to spend a fortune on TV commercials to sell it? Truly great lures sell out quickly by word of mouth.
2. Why would it work better than all other lures, if the angler using it is not skilled at tackle rigging, presentations, hook-setting, etc. A poor angler cannot catch fish even on the "hot" lure. But a good angler can usually work out some way to catch fish on lures that others cannot get to produce.
Thanks for posting that link. Got my chortles and guffaws for the day.
