[font "Comic Sans MS"][#800000]I have tied braided on my DR rods and do NOT like it at all. Big problem with it and the OffShore releases I prefer to use. So mono it is for me. I think most cost concious folks will spool with regular mono and tip with 6 feet or more of florocarbon. I use the high viz (yellow in my case) line so these tired old eyes can see the line against the water.

I do use braided line on my 2 bass fishing combos and of course tip them with florocarbon as well.

Florocarbon is more expensive than regular mono and the only thing it does better than regular mono is hide - fish can't see it. So you really waste money by filling your spool with it instead of just using it just where it does its thing.
