[#0000FF]Trout and salmon don't make it even in an aerated live well...especially when the surface temp water being pumped in is much warmer than the depths from which they came. Troutkind are wimps.
WH2 was referring to walleyes (and other "warm water" species) that live longer in a live well. And some even survive the ride home and are still flopping when you take them out to fillet them. That's how a lot of "bucket biology" happens. Guys keep crappies, white bass, catfish, walleyes or whatever in their live wells...and then make a quick stop at another body of water on the way home. How do you suppose Utah Lake got the sudden appearance of northern pike...during the times when Yuba was kicking them out by the hundreds?
That is why DWR doesn't want folks transporting fish home in their live wells...not because of any potential decrease in the table qualities.
