Start by rigging up you rod and at trolling speed, 1.7 mph with a sling blade, drop the unbent rig in the water along side the boat and look at the action. Then put a slight bend in the middle of the dodger and drop it down along side the boat again and watch the difference. It doesn't take much of a bend to make a difference. Now what is the problem? No two will bend the same so when I find one that produces well I mark it and try to bend the others in a similar fashion. Still, depending on who I'm fishing with I'll either put that perfect dodger on my rod so I can out fish the competition or put it on a person's rod like a little kid who I want to see catch a boat load of fish while the rest watch!
