A friend of mine, and member of the Fresh Water fishing hall of fame, and the IGFA Hall of Fame, says that the chances of catching a "big" fish are inversely proportional to how much you deserve to catch that fish.
His point is based on the number of world records that have been caught by people that either seldom fish or were inexperienced. Sometimes it all comes down to luck!
