I've been using a combination of things this spring including a string of Colorado blades. One other type is the large plastic two prop blade. The larger pop gear I use is only about 1.5" blades and seems to catch fish. I really can't say if the bigger blades scare the fish. This spring the fish are really shallow and I figure the boat prop scares them as much as any thing. I have noticed that if we run through the school a second time really quick the bite seems to be off, so what you mention about scaring fish may very well be true. I'll have to test it out a bit further. In the summer I run dodgers with the downriggers but have not done well during the spring.

Always good to learn new things about the fishing sport. I'll probably get out next week so will have to check out the new theory.
