RBL, I paddle an Ocean KayakTrident 13.
I got into kayak fishing about 3 years ago. My wife and I were vacationing on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska and I was mainly wading the rivers and doing some surf casting off the Homer spit.
I took a charter in Cook Inlet and while out there saw some guys fishing from kayaks. Caught a 30# king by the way. When I got back to the motel I got on the iPad and did some research and came across a YouTube by kardinal84 fishing those same waters and also found the Northwest Kayak Anglers forum. I was hooked.
When I got home I did a lot of research and figured the Trident was the best bang for my buck. Being my first kayak and not knowing if it was something I was going to stick with I didn't want to go all out and get a Hobie. Kind of wish I had now.
I have added on some accessories with the latest being a downrigger for Kokanee and lakers when it's blowing too hard to jig. Wish I had had the downrigger last year fishing for sockeye in the salt at Vancouver Island.
It's been a good seaworthy boat and now has a bloodstained deck, but a pedal drive sure would be nice.
