The last time I bought a new car, two years ago, I checked the price for what the car cost with a Standard trans(yes they still make them and they are not special ordered ones) and what the same car cost with an Auto trans, the auto trans was over $1000 more but that depend on which auto trans you bought, some were more than 1k difference. So why would I assume that a Auto trans in a truck cost less than one in a car[crazy]. Since I haven't checked the price for a truck, you very well could be correct, so I can't say but I'd be interested in seeing these facts, if you can show me proof? As far as fixing an auto trans, my thoughts are that it is rare to have to do internal repairs on a standard trans, not impossible but rare, so the most you would have to pay for is the cost of having the clutch replaced. I never said Automatics are not the most popular trans, my statement was about the cost of repairing a auto trans, if it needs work.
