[#0000FF]The last time UL filled to the brim was in 2012. The snow pack that winter was probably less than what we have...and will be getting...this year.
There is reason for optimism.
It's one of those things where a little bit more snow can make a lot of difference in the flow into Utah Lake. The key will be A. the final snow pack, B. the timing of the temperature rise that triggers the runoff and C. how hot it gets how fast. If there is enough gradual runoff to satisfy the upstream and downstream water users...with enough left over to raise Utah Lake...then we should see a rapid rise in May and June. That should mean plenty of water for Dad's Day.
Now what we have to see is how the combination of poor spawning and recruitment of white bass, the toxic algae bloom and sustained low water has affected the fish populations. I can predict that both white bass and walleye populations will be down. But the cats were plentiful late last year and should still be ready to rumble if you get out amongst 'em.
Let me know when you are planning a trip and I will see if I can lend some immoral support.
