The one we have at my work cost over $10,000 dollars.
It has a range of 2 and a half miles.
It is almost silent. (the bigger they are the more quite they are.)
Can stay up for 30 minuets before before it will return it's self to the spot it took off from and land it's self before the battery gets too low. Slap a fresh rechargeable battery in it and your off again in a matter of seconds.
If you turn loose of the controls it will stay perfectly still even in a pretty stiff wind.
Moves incredibly fast in any direction even strait up.
Has a super high def zoomable camera that transmits back to the controller in real time.
It is almost impossible to crash, do to object sensing technology.
These things are here to stay, getting more sophisticated, and cheaper all the time.
Unless you have a special license you must stay below a certain altitude, and can not let it leave your sight.
For sure there are still a lot of legality and regulation to be worked out concerning drones.
