I'm more curious about the launch's. Where can you launch from? Is Buckboard ice free? Lucerne? Anvil? Holmes?

I launched at lucern last weekend, but I heard buckboard and anvil have been ice free for a little while now.

Well fishing sucked...bottom line. Been a long time since I was skunked and my counterpart only caught 1.

Is there any ice floating around that needs to be watched out for? I plan on going up before to long for the day to try out the new to me down riggers

Really not much ice except back in bays and very little at that, though I do not know fully, didn't go North of Pipeline, nor South of Linwood.

Thanks for the info. We just got back earlier today, right before we got blown off the lake. Fishing was slow for us to.

was at the gorge mon-Thu lots of wind
The only place we saw many fish on the fish finder was buckboard We tried Anvil , middle marsh (lot of boats their. ) also lucern, and Antelope flats.. the fish must be laying on the bottom where you cant see them. most of the fish we got at buckboard were 22 inch lake trout using rainbow spoons, Pro troll watermellon. and a white 3 1/2 tube got some nice Rainbows jigging [signature]

Rainbows are stacking up in the bays and we had quite a few showing darkened body colors due to the spawn. We literally kicked butt using an amber pepper purple flake 3 1/2" tube: http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Te...uct/15639/.
Jig aggressively and keep your line taut so you can feel the hit during the fall. I didn't do bad either using white but amber literally kicked butt! [signature]

we were using small jigs and flies with a bubble.full of water
the flies were about the same color as your amber pepper purple flake. I will be going back the 28th and will try your 3 1/2 in. jig. we were fishing in five feet of water for the rainbows. hope the Kokanee are biting then. [signature]

Thanks for report yahtahay, could you tell me what size jig you were using? were you casting to bank or what? Coming to FL july 5th from AZ bringing grandson so need all the help I can get. Do you know of anyone that can tell me what to use for lakers and kokes. I do have downriggers or is jigging best for lakers. thanks to all for help

Ron, what I used was a 3 1/2" Amber Pepper Purple Flake Tube Jig from Bass Pro Shops with a 1/8 oz. tube lead head either cast to the bank and retrieved back to the boat or if the water was 35 ft or less in depth we would also cast into the main body of water in each cove and troll rip-jig back to the boat with 3-5 second pauses between rips. I went up about 2 weeks ago as well though on the Utah side and didn't do as well with Amber, black was the killer in 2" tubes as well as green pumpkin, same size.
As far as lakers, I would use a 1 oz. lead head and a 5" white tube, though you may want to contact Old_Coot and/or TarponJim for their advise with the lakers because I am fairly new at tubing for big lakers. As far as the kokanee, get kokanee assassins, wedding rings, etc. in purple, pink, purple/pink, chartreuse, and/or orange and tip with maggots about 30-35 ft down (or wherever you see schools suspended at the time). I haven't fished for koke's this year so hopefully someone else here that has will chime in with what worked for them. I am headed up again tomorrow though and will let you know what worked for the bow's unless the smallmouth are hitting now which I usually pound with a black/red neon tube, green pumpkin tube or olive red speckled tube.
