question on fishing licence

hello i have a quick question altho im not sure this is the correct place to ask. but oh well. does anyone know if it is needed to have a fishing licence on a pay lake in IL? ik that prob sounds like a stupid question but i really am not sure. i have heard both ways. and need to know. thankyou for any answers.
