Any recent news on bear lake open water conditions? Also I haven't fished bear lake for years and years. I would like to catch a mac in my boat. I have 26' deck boat with a couple down riggers and fish finder, any tips on where to go on the lake? I have some good sized flat fish and lead core poles, anything else special I would need?
Thanks in advance..

The reports I have read were a little mixed. Is the ice safe? I guess it probably depends on where you go hu. So the lakers like cisco? It has been so long since I have fished for them. I was just a kid with grandpa. They used to use down riggers with steel line. I remember frog pattern big flatfish and they used a thing called a rubber snubber just in front of the lure that had steel line inside and an elastic exterior that would soften the strike a bit. Not sure if they even make those anymore.

We need somebody with a tough jet boat to break through some chunks in the marina and we are in business. If someone is going over tomorrow let me know cause I would definatly be down to help break up some ice.

My budy that lives over there said that he was not sure about cisco beach, first point is still froze up, but the marina was mostly clear other than a couple sections that he thought we could break through with a little work. He is supposed to get back with me later after he checks it out more.

I just got back from BL, had to shovel snow off my roof.[frown] When I left I decided to grab a BBQ sandwich from the Chevron and drive to the marina and eat lunch (Thanks to petty4life and rileyfish I am addicted to thier BBQ sandwiches). The marina has already been broken thru and the lake has floating ice but most definately fishable and launch worthy. Just be careful and pay attention to your travel path, would be easy to get ice locked.

Good to hear. Think I may for a few days of good weather after this storm passes, maybe if I can hold out that long. Definitely the premo time of the year to get on the lake, ice off baby

It looks like that from shore, wait till your out there in a boat and realize that the the whole lake is pretty much frozen, me and ninja were out on saturday and it was quite the adventure, All I can say is that the guys on deadliest catch aint got nothin on us. My advice is wait till the lake clears.
