mocking up mods to the FC9 toon
#1
After thinking about getting some rod holders and my fish finder on the fishcat 9 pontoon, I got to thinking it would be nice to use the stuff off my float tube since it just snaps off. So I mocked up a set up with cam straps. They will hold up to 300 pounds so I am sure they will work on this to get some Ideas.
After I test this I might add some glue on D rings to attach them. The rod holder will be a stretch to get to, I know that will be a small problem but everything will work with the oars so I might have to live with it to make things simpler and less expensive. The biggest thing I like about it is not having yet another completely different set up. To rig something for just this boat I would need another transducer. Those will run about 50 to 60 dollars. I can get a set of 4 glue on D rings for about that same price. I am thinking about using it this weekend to see how it goes. Ron

It looks good.

If it was me I would go ahead and use the fish finder assembly, but I think I would mount a rod holder behind me. But then I fly fish so I don't use many rod holders anyway. Just seems that it would be in better reach there.

The rod holder I have for my other toon is behind the seat. That one works but that same idea won't work on the FC9. the rod holder in the picture are both active rods. Ron

That makes sense then. If you are trolling them, then there aren't too many options on where you can mount them and still avoid the oars.
