ODC420 pack straps?

Here in Calif. I find myself having to carry my ODC420 a ways to the lake from the parking spot. I was wondering if the straps they sell work? If so do I need to buy the ones made for my tube or what other choice is there? Tube on top of my head and hands full on a 1/4 to 1/2 mile hike gets old ( the way back to the car is even older)

Just get some straps from wally world or some shoulder straps from old bags if you have them. It doesn't have to be a specific type.

Made a set for my ODC420 from webbing, swivel clips and strap adjusters found at a sewing/hobby shop. They easily store in the smallest compartment on the tube.

[cool][#0000ff]Try using a "tump line" pack system...with a strap around your forehead and connected to the two widest D rings on your tube. I have carried some pretty full loads of tube and gear for fairly good distances with those. See picture[/#0000ff]

I was going to suggest old Duffel bag shoulder straps as they have the shoulder pads as well. Find them in thrift stores as most people don't use them.
I know I have thrown a bunch away.

The advantage to the head strap that TD posted is it is allot easier to put on and take off.

Try your local war surplus dealer and see what kind of pack straps that they have. Last time I was near one near me they had a ton of them with the padding and all.

Lots of good suggestions. I'll add -- Don't forget the straps on old worn out backpacks at home or the second hand stores. Just cut them off and add clips. Be sure you heat seal any cut ends or straps will unravel quickly.
