Rogue SP mods
#1
I finally got my rig together. It's a Classic Accessories Rogue SP. Attached are some photos of how I rigged mine. Thanks to all those on this forum who have posted photos... you were a great source for ideas.

I took it out for it's maiden voyage today. Everything seemed to work together well enough but I'll probably make some adjustments as time goes on. I know that I'll want to use a trolling motor next time it's windy. And since this is Kansas, that will probably be the next time I go out... it blows a lot around here! I didn't catch any bass, and I got a real workout rowing against the wind. Otherwise, I had a great time.

Some observations:
The anchoring system is next to impossible to use if you have a fairly heavy anchor. I 'm using a block of steel that weighs 14 pounds. Works great, but hard to pull up using pulley and guide system. Too much friction.
I'm going to invest in a air pressure gauge. I thought I had plenty of air when I left the shore, but it seemed to lose a little once out on the lake, probably due to the cold water.
The wheel is nice, but it works better if you don't load it down with all your equipment for the trip to the shoreline.
And, I have to remember to tighten the seat wingnuts.

Welcome to the site and very nicely done![cool] On your anchor though you will find with a motor you will not need the anchor much. Don't use mine and I put it on my toon for one reservoir that is known to blow you off by 10 am.

I like the mods. Thanks for posting your ideas.

What are the brackets holding your pvc with the transducer?
My pontoon is similer with the same kind of valve system and I trying to figure out how you check the pressure. Do they make a gauge that works with those valves?

KsPete, you mentioned one thing that ANY one that has the molded plastic seat has experienced, but for some reason, never gets mentioned. TIGHTED THE BOLTS.
I have lost soooooo many and it makes for a wobbly seat.
Thanks big time for mentioning that.

As far as the mods, I too would like to see the transducer. It looks like the back basket some how.

Do you have an alternate plan for those back rods when motor is added?

Very nice mods. A little black and brown paint and you could easily Camo that thing up[laugh] They would never find you![Wink]

Nice mods, did they take care of the broken parts U had?? I ordered a "Kwik check boston pressure guage" and made an adapter to fit my valves which should be the same as your boat and they are not boston. from waterstrider.com cost was 28.85 plus shipping. this was about 10.00 cheaper than any place else, and they shipped real quick,
after checking the pressure I found out that I was less than two pounds by my guestamation.
good luck with the wind I live in norteast okla. and we have a lot of it also.

I just bought this gauge

http://www.cabelas.com/p-0052668320252a.shtml

Everyone should have a gauge of some sort. Just like tires, if one is under inflated, might not be noticeable to the eye, but makes a difference. Same is true with tubes/toon

Also, good idea to put you ride IN the water, then get dressed and grab gear, then check the air again

The transducer is mounted to a length of PVC pipe (3/4 inch, I think) and the cord is zip tied to the pipe. The mount itself is a block of wood with broom handle holders screwed on to grab hold of the PVC pipe. This contraption is mounted to the frame with c-clamps. I mounted it behind the seat. The broom handle holders hold the PVC pipe pretty firmly but it's still easy enough to put on or take off. And if you hit an obstruction it will give way without doing any damage. I'll take another picture to more clearly explain it.

Wedge, no I haven't heard from them yet, so I guess I'll have to call them this week. And thanks for the tip on the gauge, I'll check it out.

Attached are photos of the transducer and mount. Actually, I'm thinking of changing the mount by using a smaller block of wood and smaller clamps. I don't think it needs to be this large.

Wedge, which gauge did you buy, the first or the second photo? And what kind of adapter did you have to make for it? The first photo looks like the same one that Cabelas carries and both are the same price. The second one is cheaper, but looks a little different. Which brings up the question... what kind of valve is used by these 'toons?

Now that is cool, and simple. Thanks!

I bought the second guage because someone told me I had the boston valves, but on my colorado classic I had the halkey-roberts valves. So if U buy the guage for 32.95 U will not have too make an adapter, when u call colorado classic ask for Kristina brooks she seems to know what she is talking about,, she can tell U what valve covers U need and the type of valves U have.
hope this helps

Or, just take a picture, I am sure TD would know what kind it is.
I just know the one I got (Cabela's) does several different valves.

Wedge, thanks for the info. I think I would rather buy the more expensive gauge and not have to make an adapter. But that's just me.

Flygoddess, here's the valve along with the broken cap. I buy from Cabelas a lot, so I'll probably get the gauge from them... along with a few other things, of course!

Flygoddess, thanks for the links, I bookmarked them for future reference. However, as far as the valves are concerned, the colors of the center post don't match what I have, so I think I might have something different. I'll have to do some further checking.

This might help you out.
Worldwide sourcing ltd should be the manufacture. They make alot of different modles for differant companies. The modle you have is one they make.
Here is there home page. Its really basic not alot you can do on there. However there is a customer service number and a email address. I asked for some info from them the other day and they got back to me really fast.

The is also Classic Accessories which sell the colorado modle.
1-800-854-2315 (7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PST) and ask for Warranty Customer Service

I would bet that anyone of them could help you get your valve replaced.
Hope that helps a little

I just pick up a gauge at Cabelas tonight. I got home and was shocked. I thought I might be just a little over on the air pressure.(max is 2.5 lbs.) I stuck the gauge in and it was at 1 lbs.. I was shocked. I thought for sure I was going to be letting out some air. Turns out I could add more if I wanted. Both sides are nice and tight. I may just put a little more in before I set out on the water since the water temp is nice and cold.

Happened to me too and I bet it happens to most people who get a gauge. We really have no clue about the right pressure until we've done it using a gauge a few times.

I am at the point now where usually after I pump it up I go around and check the chambers with the gauge and they are all real close to 3PSI.
