FC4 Sonar Install
#1
[cool][#0000ff]Installing sonar on an FC4 has been a challenge, compared to larger craft with larger pockets. Just set up a Piranamax system using a wood block mounting base to be inserted in the front pockets.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Used the 1" to 1/2" elbow attached to the rod rack for mounting the transducer.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Battery will go inside a plastic card file box in the pocket...along with the roll of excess wiring.[/#0000ff]

Is the file card box just to keep things all together?

[cool][#0000ff]If you can get one just wide enough for the pocket and the battery it will help keep the battery in place...and you can often stuff the wire in there too. Depends on the size and type battery you use and how much cord you have left over on the transducer.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Some guys put two sided sticky tape on the bottom of the plastic box to help insure that it does not slide around inside the pocket.[/#0000ff]

Fortunately my back pocket on the 420 is just large enough to hold the battery and cords for me. If I had to put them in a larger pocket that looks like a good idea.

[cool][#0000ff]Back in my early days of using sonar, I was still in a round tube. Very little pocket space. Also, that was before the SLA batteries and I had to use acid filled motorcycle batteries. You didn't want them tipping over and spilling acid. So, that was when I started using the plastic card file boxes and I drilled holes in each of the bottom 4 corners...running white plastic clothes line cord through them and lashing time around the tube right behind the side pocket. I also had a couple of small bungee cords that went up around the box and over the battery to keep it in place. It worked.[/#0000ff]

That's a good looking sonar install job, I like how it fits in the cup holder, easy on off, I can say my tube is officially "pimped" [Image: happy.gif] Thanks again Pat!

[cool][#0000ff]Now you are ready to rumble. As soon as you get the hang of using the rudders and flaps for turning you got it made.[/#0000ff]
